The Australia batsman hit the innovative stroke in the 15th over of the Leicestershire innings by moving across to reverse swat a short, wide delivery from the fast bowler to the third man fence.

Though Inglis appeared to have initially readied himself to play a scoop over short fine leg, the batsman, who was in excellent nick through the innings, changed his mind after the ball had been released to hit a four.

Leicestershire eventually won the game by 34 runs.
