Watch: Jayden Denly, the nephew of Kent batter Joe, and Josh de Caires, son of former England captain Michael Atherton, faced off in a Second XI Championship clash at Radlett.
The Kent team also featured George Ealham, son of former England all-rounder Mark.
Middlesex triumphed in the clash by 41 runs, with de Caires, who has made a County Championship century for the Seaxes, making 29 and 44 atop the order.
But Denly, substituted in for Matt Quinn partway through the game, acquitted himself well in the chase. The 16-year-old made an unbeaten 48 not out, including a sumptuously driven boundary off the bowling of de Caires.
Kent Cricket posted a video of the shot on their Twitter, comparing Denly Jr.’s cover drive to that of his uncle, who played 15 Tests for England between 2019 and 2020.
