Watch: James Neesham produced two outstanding bits of fielding during Pretoria Capitals’ game against Durban’s Super Giants, following up a catch down by his toes off his own bowling with a flying one-hander at point.

Despite Neesham’s efforts, Durban’s Super Giants put up 254-4 in 20 overs, with Heinrich Klaasen making a stellar hundred to drive his side to a mammoth total.

Neesham was introduced with Pretoria Capitals desperate for a breakthrough, Quinton de Kock and Ben McDermott having smoked 76 runs in the powerplay. It took the New Zealand international one ball to strike, with de Kock making good connection with a full-blooded straight drive, only for Neesham to adjust in his follow-through, stick out a hand and catch the ball inches from the turf.

Despite the breakthrough, and despite Neesham conceding just three runs from the over, the carnage continued. Neesham’s next over went for 16 runs, and though he chipped in with another catch, Durban’s Super Giants motored along.

Nineteen runs had already come off the 14th over, bowled by Josh Little, and it seemed it would become 23 when Wiaan Mulder threw his hands at a wide ball from the Irishman and sent it flying square on the off-side. However, Neesham flung himself to his right and grabbed another stunner – it was the second diving catch Neesham had taken at point in the competition.

Neesham ended up with figures of 1-41, the second-most economical bowler for his side.
