Watch: India quick Jasprit Bumrah seems to have made a rather unusual addition to his bowling armoury, trying out leg-spin in the nets ahead of the upcoming India-England Test series.

In a video compilation posted by BCCI, Bumrah was seen imitating Anil Kumble’s bowling action pretty convincingly, refreshing memories of the former India captain’s bounding run-up and release.

Bumrah, who is known for his accurate yorkers and subtle change of pace, seems to have copied Kumble’s style to a T in the 42-second video, which also has match footage of India’s most successful Test bowler troubling batsmen from his playing time. Known for a rather unique bowling action himself, Bumrah was seen sneaking through a couple of deliveries past the bat, even managing an edge off the final ball of the compilation.

As expected, Twitter was abuzz with Bumrah’s newest ‘variation’; while some marvelled at his near-perfect rendition, others wondered if it was a ploy to use another spinner on India’s slow tracks for the series against England.
