Ravindra Jadeja completed an excellent catch to dismiss Matthew Wade even after colliding with debutant Shubman Gill in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against Australia.
After winning the toss and choosing to bat first, Australia suffered a shaky start to their innings, losing Joe Burns as early as the fifth over. Though Wade and Marnus Labuschagne seemingly put Australia back on track, the makeshift open fell just seven overs later and was soon followed by Steve Smith.
Batting on 30, Wade charged down the track to Ashwin but the ball took a top edge and ballooned towards the mid-wicket region. Jadeja and Gill both ran in the direction of the ball, and both got to it but it was the former who managed to hold on to the ball even after a collision between the two
“Not sure what Shubman Gill, on debut, was doing,” Charles Dagnall on the BT Sport broadcast in the UK. Wade’s wicket was Ashwin’s first of the day who followed his wicket up with the prized scalp of Smith an over later, who was dismissed for a duck as Australia were reduced to 38-3.
Here’s how Jadeja managed to hold on to the catch to send Wade back in the hut.
