Watch: During the first T20I against Sri Lanka at Lucknow, Ishan Kishan channelled India legend MS Dhoni, unveiling a helicopter shot to get to a boundary during his 89-run blitz.
Kishan had helped India get off to a positive start against Sri Lanka. He joined forces with Rohit Sharma in an opening stand of 111 runs in 11.5 overs, helping lay the platform for a strong total of 199-2.
Kishan reached a 30-ball fifty in the 10th over, but didn’t let up after reaching the milestone.
Kishan went leg-side off Dasun Shanaka, unleashing a helicopter shot to steer a full delivery between the deep mid-wicket and long-on fielders for a four.
The fielders gave the ball a chase but the ball had been perfectly placed, bisecting the two Sri Lankans as they ran around.
Harsha Bhogle, on-air, described the shot as “brilliant.”
“There’s two or three he has played today that take your breath away,” Bhogle said. “This is one of those.”
Kishan went on to make 89, his highest international score.
