Watch: Bhuvneshwar Kumar, currently not in India reckoning, delivered a trademark inswinger dismissal, in the newly-launched Uttar Pradesh T20 League, a local T20 tournament in India.

Bhuvneshwar, India’s second-highest ranked ICC T20I bowler after Arshdeep Singh, hasn’t played T20Is since November last year, with his last ODI coming back in January 2022. In the UP T20 League, he is playing for the Noida Super Kings, which also features Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana.

In the opening game of the league against Kanpur Superstars, Bhuvneshwar put on a typically economical display, finishing with figures of 4-0-16-2. The spell helped the Super Kings to a 16-run win.

The first of Bhuvneshwar’s wickets was a length ball that angled into Sameer Rizvi, the 19-year-old Uttar Pradesh batter. Rizvi couldn’t do much with as the ball skid sharply into him, knocking into his off stump. Later, he also accounted for the wicket of Superstars skipper Akshdeep Nath.

Despite being out of favour from the India team, Bhuvneshwar was among the wickets in the 2023 IPL as well, finishing with 16 scalps at 26.56, the most for Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The Uttar Pradesh T20 League, organised by the UP Cricket Association, will run from August 30 to September 16, 2023, with all matches being played at the Green Park Stadium in Kanpur.

Along with Bhuvneshwar, the league also features prominent IPL players such as Rinku Singh, Shivam Mavi, Dhruv Jurel and Mohsin Khan, among others.
