Coming on the back of a 43-ball 62 and a 35-ball 58 in his last two outings, Ayub made full use of his red-hot streak and came up with his highest score of CPL 2023 so far in the run-chase against Jamaica.
Chasing 153 for victory, Ayub started well, scoring three boundaries off his first 13 balls. Along with his opening partner Matthew Nandu, Ayub provided a solid start to Guyana that was enough to lay the foundation for a trouble-free run-chase.

Ayub cut loose in the ninth over of the innings, smashing two consecutive sixes to the leg side off Nicholson Gordon. He reached his fifty from the first ball of the 11th over, off just 34 balls. There was another sequence of two consecutive sixes, in the 16th over off the bowling of Fabian Allen, who had earlier broken a window with a 98-meter six in the first innings.
Having taken Guyana to a position of safety, Ayub was dismissed in the 17th over, caught on the long-off boundary off Shamar Springer to bring an end to his 53-ball knock of 85 that included five fours and five sixes.
Guayana eventually finished the run-chase in 18.3 overs with seven wickets in hand. With this knock, Ayub reached the top of the highest run-scorers table in CPL 2023 with 288 runs for seven innings at a strike rate of 156.52.
