A video clip, doing the rounds on social media on Tuesday, shows Pakistan fast bowler Haris Rauf getting into a heated altercation with fan on the streets of Florida.
The video, recorded on a mobile phone by an onlooker, shows Rauf exchanging words with a group of people on the sidewalk. After a bit of back and forth, Rauf can be seen charging at the group, leaping over the bushes separating them.
Snippets of the conversation are audible. As Rauf jumps over the bushes, one member of the group attempts to hold him back, saying, "USA mein nahi (Not in USA)," while another takes a more aggressive tone, asking Rauf, "Maaroge? Maaroge? (You'll hit us?)". The same speaker continues by saying, "Ek picture maangi hai bhai, fans hai aapke (We asked for one picture, we're your fans)".
As he pulls away from the confrontation, Rauf can be heard angrily asking the fan, "Gaali baap ko de raha rai? India nahi hai ye (Are you insulting my father? This is not India)," to which the reply "Pakistan se hoon (I'm from Pakistan)" is audible. Rauf then says, "Pakistan se hai? Yeh teri haalat hai? (You're from Pakistan and you're acting like this)?".
Wisden.com has reached out to the PCB for a comment.
Pakistan's 2024 T20 World Cup campaign ended on Sunday, as they defeated Ireland by three wickets in Lauderhill. However, they failed to qualify for the next round of the tournament after finishing third in Group A, with India and USA going through.
