Watch: Pakistan batter Haider Ali hit a swashbuckling double hundred against Central Punjab in the Quaid-e-Azam trophy in his first first-class appearance in almost 18 months.
Central Punjab won the toss and decided to bowl first. Haider walked in at No.4 and looked at ease in Karachi. He played some elegant cover drives, exceptional cut shots, and even unveiled some effective slogs as he got going.
When he eased into the knock, he went down the track against both seamers and spinners and hit some massive shots down the ground. He ended up with 206 off 221 balls to his name, propelling Northern to 445-8 dec.
Haider is one of the most highly rated young batters in Pakistan, and has already played 18 T20Is and two ODIs. He was also part of Pakistan’s 2021 T20 World Cup squad. However, he is yet to make his Test debut. This innings, his third first-class century in only his ninth game, and a new career-best score, will only advance his claims.
