Derbyshire were put into bat by Gloucestershire after they lost the toss in their first game of the season. Their openers provided a solid start as Harry Came scored 40 off 32 and Luis Reece scored 50 off 59.

Haider Ali walked in at No.4 at the score of 99-2 after 16 overs and took on the bowling from the word go. At 101-3, he was joined by skipper Brooke Guest, and the two shared a 104-run fourth wicket partnership off just 94 balls.

Guest was the more sedate partner whereas Haider kept the scoreboard ticking. Guest fell for 43 off 48 balls at the score of 205. Haider stuck around for a little while longer and was the sixth wicket to fall for Derbyshire, with the score reading 231-6 after 38.4 overs.

Haider hit eight fours and three sixes in his 65-ball 82. He propelled Derbyshire to 298-9, but it was not enough. Despite losing both openers inside three overs, Gloucestershire rode on impressive knocks by Oliver Price (116 not out in 115 balls) and Harry Tector (86 in 69).

Gloucestershire finished the chase in 43.2 overs in the end, with six wickets remaining to register their first victory of the season.
