Watch: West Indies opener Deandra Dottin’s one-handed screamer against England became an early contender for catch of the tournament at the ongoing Women’s Cricket World Cup.

West Indies elected to bat first and set England a target of 226. The England openers got off to a safe start and were 31-0 after 8 overs.

The first ball of the ninth over faced by Lauren Winfield-Hill  was a short and wide delivery from West Indies pacer Shamilia Connell. The England opener tried to cut it. The ball was travelling at a brisk pace after being hit, but was intercepted by a brilliant effort from Dottin.

She plunged at the ball, going full-stretch mid-air and took a brilliant one-handed stunner.

Alan Wilkins, on commentary, said “What a catch! Will you see any better? Deandra Dottin! That is 10 out of 10.”

Nasser Hussain added, “The balance, the skill, the timing. You can watch that over and over again. In real time? Even better.”

West Indies won the game by seven runs.
