Chennai Super Kings seamer Mukesh Choudhary was the beneficiary of a bizarre dismissal in the Marahashtra Premier League final, bowling Sahil Churi with a delivery that hit middle stump after the batter walked way across the crease and decided not to play a shot.

Choudhary enjoyed an outstanding individual game despite ending up on the losing side, taking 3-30 as the Ratnagiri Jets put on 160-8 from their 20 overs before compiling a battling half-century as the Eagle Nashik Titans fell 24 runs in the run chase.

There was an eye-catching moment towards the end of the Jets' innings as Choudhary bowled Churi who didn't offer a shot to a ball that cannoned into middle stump.

Churi, the Jets No.8, got himself into an almighty positional mess, moving well outside his off stump before the ball was bowled giving the left-armer Chaudhary all three stumps to aim at.

Chaudhary duly delivered a ball that honed in on middle stump, and with Churi so far out of position he didn't even attempt to play it.

He fell for eight off six deliveries in the penultimate over of the innings; a late flourish from wicketkeeper Nikhil Naik who finished unbeaten on 36 off 25 helped Jets get up to a final total of 160-8.

That total proved to be too much for the Titans who fell 24 runs short despite Choudhary following up his three-wicket haul with a 35-ball half-century.

The result meant that the Jets have now won both editions of the Marahashtra Premier League having beaten the Kolhapur Tuskers in the 2023 final.
