Watch: Oman batter Jatinder Singh managed to do what Virat Kohli couldn’t, emulating a Joe Root magic trick by balancing his bat on its end during a T20I against Saudi Arabia.
Root had sparked awe and wonder in June, with his bat standing unassisted as he waited at the non-striker’s end on his way to a match-winning century against New Zealand in the Lord’s Test.
The moment left many baffled, with Virat Kohli among those to be amazed. In a warm-up game against Leicestershire ahead of India’s Edgbaston Test against England, he was seen trying and failing to balance his bat.
Perhaps Kohli should seek advice from Singh, who emulated Root with ease during an Oman T20I victory over Saudi Arabia. Unbeaten on 16 at the time, his bat stood on its own as he waited for the batter to bowl.
Singh went on to make a 24-ball 35 as Oman chased down 114 with seven wickets and 7.2 overs to spare.
