Watch: Virat Kohli’s long wait for his 71st Test century continued as he fell to James Anderson for seven on the opening day of the third England-India Test at Headingley on Wednesday.
Anderson, who had already picked up the wickets of KL Rahul and Cheteshwar Pujara in the first half-hour of play, came out triumphant against the India skipper as the wobble seam did the trick again. The delivery jagged away slightly, and Kohli could only find a thick outside edge to the wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.
It was the seventh time that Kohli was dismissed by Anderson in Test cricket, with the England player sharing the honours with Nathan Lyon for dismissing Kohli most times in the format.
This was also the second time that Kohli has been dismissed by Anderson in the series. The latter had removed Kohli for a golden duck in the opening Test of the five-match series, which ended in a draw.
Kohli, who has not scored a hundred since November 2019, has not had the best series thus far, with scores of 0, 42, 20 and 7 in four innings against England.
