Watch: Alice Capsey was at her belligerent best while representing Delhi Capitals during the WPL, smashing three sixes in one over off Hayley Matthews.

Delhi Capitals had done well to restrict Mumbai Indians to 109. Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma got them off to a good start too, scoring 56 in 4.3 overs before the latter perished to Matthews. Capsey, though, ensured that Delhi Capitals did not lose any momentum after Shafali’s dismissal.

In the seventh over, Matthews came in for a bit of tap and was hammered for three sixes in the same over. The first six came off the first ball of the over. Matthews pitched it on a full length outside off stump. Capsey danced down the track and pumped it over long off.

On the third ball of the over, Matthews went around the wicket and tried to cramp Capsey for room. The England batter, however, was up to the task. She gave the bowler the charge and despite not being to the pitch of the ball, smeared it over long on. The fourth ball of the over also sailed for six. This time, Matthews bowled it right in Capsey’s arc. The youngster obliged by advancing and crunching it over the bowler’s head for six.

Capsey’s cameo played a major role as Delhi Capitals registered a crucial win over Mumbai Indians. The victory also took them to the top of the table, courtesy of a better NRR than Mumbai Indians.
