Watch: Ahmed Shehzad stood in disbelief at the crease after being bowled by fellow Pakistan player Shoaib Malik during a Lanka Premier League 2021 clash between Jaffna Kings and Kandy Warriors.

Kandy’s Ahmed Shehzad had to walk back to the pavilion on the penultimate ball of the fifth over after a clever piece of bowling by Shoaib Malik dismantled his leg stump. The batter, who was standing inside the line to cover his leg stump tried to tap the ball, which was sent down by Malik from round the wicket. However, Malik’s wide angle did the trick as the ball escaped Shehzad’s leg to bowl him, leaving him surprised. He stood his ground for quite a while, with the umpires going upstairs to confirm that Shehzad had been bowled.

Shehzad was dismissed for a 19-ball 22 in a rain-affected clash. Kandy managed 94-2 in 12.2 overs before rain interrupted proceedings. Jaffna were set a target of 95 runs from 10 overs via the DLS method, which was easily chased down in 8.4 overs. Malik starred with the bat as well, scoring a quick 14 in nine balls to take Jaffna across the line.
