Rohit and his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan got India off to a rollicking start, reaching the 100-run mark at the end of the 14th over. Adil Rashid, so often the partnership-breaker for England in the middle overs, struck with a timely breakthrough in his second over, deceiving Rohit with a dipping googly that squeezed through the India opener’s defence.
In the space of three overs, Rashid also accounted for Dhawan while Moeen Ali bowled for Virat Kohli for just seven; England had quickly regained some control after India’s ferocious start.
