Watch: India were in a perilous position at 73-4 on the third day of the Chennai Test against England, but Rishabh Pant‘s counterattacking knock changed the narrative.
England were bowled out for a massive 578 early in the third morning. Jofra Archer struck early in the India innings to remove their openers, before India’s captain and vice-captain were also dismissed cheaply.
Pant then joined Cheteshwar Pujara at the crease, and the duo began stitching a partnership that had troubled Australia multiple times last month. The left-hander took on his vintage attacking approach, targeting Jack Leach.
The England spinner had an awful day in Chennai, leaking runs at 9.6 at one point in the game. All five sixes of the innings came from Pant against Leach.
