Watch: After a hundred in the Marsh One Day Cup, Steve Smith, playing for New South Wales, found life more difficult in the Sheffield Shield game against Victoria as he was worked over by 20-year-old fast bowler Mitchell Perry.
The extravagant leaves were back, but it wasn’t Steve Smith’s day in the Sheffield Shield game between New South Wales and Victoria on Wednesday. Smith’s side were bowled out for 165 after being sent in to bat on a green top that was seaming around.
The Australia middle-order batsman was cautious to begin with, leaving quite a few deliveries in the channel outside the off-stump. Mitchell Perry, the Victoria fast bowler playing just his third first-class game, was gaining good purchase from the wicket and zoomed in on the fourth stump channel against Smith before getting one to swing away from the off-stump to just outside the stumps to catch Smith’s edge.
