The inaugural edition of the Uttarakhand Premier League starts in September. Here’s all we know about the competition so far, including start and end dates, number of participating teams, and marquee players, among others.

When will Uttarakhand Premier League 2024 be played?

The Cricket Association of Uttarakhand (CAU), which got full BCCI membership in 2019, will host the inaugural edition of the Uttarakhand Premier League from September 15 to 22. The competition will consist of both men's and women’s teams and is part of India’s mushrooming state-run franchise T20 leagues eco-system.

The CAU confirmed five men’s and three women’s teams would be gunning for the title. To ensure a level playing field for all teams, the UPL 1 Player Draft will be held in Dehradun, with each team picking up a marquee signing.

 

Who are the star players in UPL season 1?

The tournament is an effort to provide a platform for local talents to showcase their skills and also gives them a chance to rub shoulders with prominent names who have already delivered on the big stage.

Akash Madhwal, Rajan Kumar, Swapnil Singh, Aditya Tare, Kunal Chandela and Deepak Dhapola are a few big names available in the men’s version while Ekta Bisht, Mansi Joshi and Punam Raut are the three marquee players part of the women’s competition.

A total of 16 matches will be organised at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in the capital city of Dehradun.
