Usman Khawaja was left out of the central contracts list for the first time in five years as Cricket Australia announced a fresh 20-member list for the 2020/21 season.
The list comprised as many as six new names, including Marnus Labuschagne, who had a breakthrough 2019, and Mitchell Marsh, the all-rounder, who missed out on the list last year, but has earned his place back after a recent return to form.
Matthew Wade, Joe Burns, Kane Richardson and Ashton Agar were the other four new names on the list, while Peter Handscomb, Marcus Harris, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Marcus Stoinis, Shaun Marsh and Ashton Turner were among those who missed out, along with Khawaja.

“As Mitch Marsh and Matthew Wade have proven, there are always plenty of opportunities for those who have missed out to be reselected by performing consistently at domestic level; and importantly to make the most of any opportunity that comes their way at international level,” said Trevor Hohns, the men’s national selector.
“As is always the case, there are unlucky omissions, but because you are not on the list does not mean you cannot be selected to represent Australia.”
