Discarded India Test opener Mayank Agarwal continues his red-hot form in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy by bringing up his third consecutive hundred in the tournament today (December 31).
Against Hyderabad at the ADSA Railways Ground in Ahmedabad, Mayank, leading Karnataka, opted to bat first. The batting side were off to a great start with the opening duo of Mayank and Nikin Jose putting up a 91-run stand. After Nikin returned for 37, No.3 Aneesh KV couldn’t capitalise on the solid start following a run out by Tanay Thyagarajan for 11, leaving Karnataka at 121-2.
At the other end, Mayank looked unflustered as the Karnataka captain kept the scoreboard ticking. He struck 12 fours and a six to reach his hundred off 95 balls, and slammed three more boundaries and a six before ending his stunning knock for 124 off 112 deliveries.

That was Mayank’s third century in a row in five days. On the sixth anniversary of his Boxing Day Test debut in Australia, he scored 139 not out off 127 to help his team to a riveting one-wicket win against Punjab.
Two days later, his 100 off 45, studded with seven fours and as many sixes, helped Karnataka gun down 167 in 14.2 overs against Arunachal Pradesh. The hundred was the fifth-fastest ever in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Mayank’s rich vein of form comes after an IPL snub. Having played the last two seasons for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Mayank, listed at a base price of INR 1 crore in the 2025 mega-auction, couldn’t find a buyer. With his newly found mojo, he would hope to make a comeback to the coveted franchise league should there be any injury concerns.
