Ahmed Shehzad and Umar Akmal have been included in Pakistan’s 16-man squad for their upcoming three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.

Shehzad’s last international appearance in the shortest format came against Scotland in 2018, while Akmal has not played a T20I since September 2016. Akmal featured in the ODI series against Australia earlier this year – marking a return to international cricket after over two years in the wilderness – when he was fined after breaching the team curfew.

All-rounder Faheem Ashraf has also been included, in one of three changes made from the ODI squad currently competing against Sri Lanka. Abi Ali, Mohammad Rizwan and Imam-ul-Haq are the names currently in the 50-over set-up that miss out.

Imam’s omission is due to a left hand injury, which he picked up while fielding in the second ODI against Sri Lanka on Monday.

The three T20Is against Sri Lanka will take place in Lahore from October 5 to October 9.
