While the action was mostly going against India, there was one moment that gave both sets of fans enjoyment, as Ravindra Jadeja and Josh Hazlewood indulged in a staring contest as the former walked out to begin his innings.
Jadeja started his knock with India under immense pressure. Rishabh Pant had nicked off to leave India five down and still nearly 150 runs behind Australia, with the all-rounder the last line of defence before the hosts would be into the tail.
After ducking a bouncer, the left-armer locked eyes with Hazlewood to show he meant business, before smiling to suggest that any friendship from the pair’s time at the Chennai Super Kings hadn’t been completely forgotten.
No words were exchanged between the duo. Sometimes a look is all that’s needed to convey what you need to say.
The moment sent social media wild, with the theatre of Test cricket on full display.
Hazlewood's stare and Jadeja's retort!
Whoa…so much can be said without talking….

Lovely stare-off between Hazlewood and Jadeja. Nothing said. But quite the welcome for Sir Jadeja. It is all Saurashtra in the middle for India now.
