This competition is the latest addition to Australia's domestic calendar for the 2024-25 season. With the Women's Big Bash League being reduced from 14 to 10 matches from the upcoming season, this tournament is Cricket Australia's move to ensure there is no reduction in the overall number of matches for these teams.

The tournament will consist of teams from all eight WBBL franchises, along with an Australian Capital Territory (ACT) team, participating under the name ACT Meteors. Each team will play four fixtures, and at the end of an 18-game league stage the top four will contest the semi-finals and final.

The tournament is scheduled to run from October 11 to October 20, and is set to feature the likes of Georgia Redmayne, Lauren Winfield-Hill, Amanda-Jade Wellington, Meg Lanning and Lizelle Lee among others.
