For this edition of the event, teams have been divided into five elite groups of six teams each, and one plate group of eight teams. The 19-day competition will see Indian domestic teams fight it out for the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The last edition was won by Tamil Nadu. They beat Baroda by seven wickets to lift the title.

This season’s event will feature a number of prominent names who played in IPL 2021, and were unlucky to miss the T20 World Cup bus. It will also feature some young exciting talent who can be seen in India colours in the near future. The likes of Mohammad Siraj, Venkatesh Iyer, Shivam Mavi, Ishan Porel, Sanju Samson, and Washington Sundar are expected to be in action. The event will feature three preliminary quarter-finals, before starting off the round of quarter-finals from November 18, 2021.

All the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy group stage games are day games. The start times vary between 8 am to 1 pm. Multiple games are being played at the same venue. Early start times are to ensure that games aren’t compromised due to bad light.
