Ambati Rayudu has been dropped from the India squad for the three-match ODI series against England in July after he failed a fitness test. Suresh Raina has been named as his replacement.

Rayudu failed to clear the compulsory ‘yo-yo test’ at India’s National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, and was subsequently omitted from the ODI squad.

Earlier, Test specialists Mohammed Shami and young batsman Sanju Samson had been dropped from the Indian Test side and India A respectively after failing the test.

A veteran of 223 ODIs, 31-year-old Raina has 5568 runs at 35.46 and will now vie for a place with Dinesh Karthik, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. India travel to England to play three T20Is, three ODIs and five Tests from July to September 2018. The ODIs will be played on July 12, 14 and 17.
