Stuart Broad, England’s second-highest Test wicket-taker, has hit the heights in another sporting arena.
The strapping seamer, a co-cover star in the latest issue of Wisden Cricket Monthly, has topped the latest ‘Gameweek’ in the English football Premier League Fantasy Game.
He posted on Instagram celebrating his achievement and suggesting it runs his 8-15 against Australia in the Ashes close as a sporting achievement.
The comment, which was also posted on Twitter, drew comment from Broad’s Notts and England teammate Alex Hales, who is currently playing with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL.
Did you get 8-15 in an ashes?! You’ve never mentioned it

Hahahahahah and there it is! 6 minutes longer than anticipated

Hales replied to Broad: “Did you get 8-15 in an ashes?! You’ve never mentioned it”, to which Broad quipped back: “Yeah 8-15 to help regain the Ashes at my home ground. You have a MOM award from a pro 40 group game on your fireplace don’t you?”
That led Chris Nash, who joined Notts from Sussex over the winter, to chip in with a fond memory of the now defunct Pro40 competition. He tweeted: “Ahhhh the pro40, lay ins and 20 overs of power play, #goodolddays #2catchers #countygrind.”
