Worcestershire and England seamer Pat Brown will not play any more cricket this winter after suffering a lower back stress fracture.

Having made his international debut in England’s T20I series against New Zealand last November, Brown was included in both of England’s ODI and T20I squads for the upcoming series against South Africa.

The 21-year-old, who was set to begin a stint with Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League, suffered a recurrence of lower back symptoms in Australia, with a scan revealing a partial stress fracture. Brown also suffered a stress fracture last winter which ruled him out of the 2018/19 Bangladesh Premier League.

Brown will now return to the UK to begin his rehabilitation at Worcestershire, with England to announce his replacement for the series against South Africa in due course.
