Ben Stokes has claimed that a jersey and medal belonging to the England allrounder that is up for sale on eBay is not legitimate.
A user of the e-commerce platform listed Stokes’ jersey, claiming it was worn by the cricketer during last year’s World Cup final at Lord’s, and medal, which he won following England’s Super Over triumph over New Zealand, under its cricket memorabilia section. The sale price is listed at £794.99, in addition to a £35 price on postage.

The jersey also seemingly possesses Stokes’ autograph, which, like the memorabilia itself, is not original. “So I have just been made aware of this being sold on eBay,” Stokes wrote on Twitter, alongside a snapshot of the page. “It is not my personal shirt, it is not the World Cup final medal, it is all replica, yes it’s my signature but it’s not legitimate.”
The sale went up shortly after England wicketkeeper Jos Buttler announced his intentions to auction his shirt from the iconic final, with the proceeds to be forwarded to two London hospitals, in a bid to help them fight the coronavirus pandemic.
At the time of writing, eBay is yet to issue a clarification on the faux sale.
