Australia all-rounder Cameron Green has signed a deal County Championship deal for Gloucestershire in April and May.
Green will represent Gloucestershire in five Championship fixtures starting against Kent on April 18 with his last outing coming against Northamptonshire from May 23.
The all-rounder has been an integral part of Australia’s squad since his Test debut against India in December 2020. He has played 28 Tests so far, boasting an impressive record – 1,377 runs at an average of 36.23 and 35 wickets at 35.31.
"Cameron Green’s ability is unquestionable, and he is clearly first-class," Gloucestershire head coach Mark Alleyne said on Green's signing.
"He usually operates in a key position for the best Test team in the world at the moment and having that pedigree in our camp is amazing for the players alongside him. We have serious ambitions in all formats in 2025 and Cameron’s signing will reinforce this sentiment."
Interestingly, the statement says that Green's services were acquired because of a "significant donation" from one of the club members.
Green will use the opportunity to hone his skills ahead of Australia’s World Test Championship Final against South Africa at Lord’s, starting June 11. He was part of Australia’s victorious campaign last time around, taking 2-44 in the first innings of the summit clash against India.
He has been out of action since September due to a lower back injury. Subsequently, he underwent a lower spine surgery, effectively ruling him out for at least six months. Having missed the Border-Gavaskar Trophy and the Sri Lanka tour, Green was also ruled out of the Champions Trophy.
Green will be captained by his Western Australia teammate Cameron Bancroft at Gloucestershire, who will begin their Championship campaign on April 4 with an away match against Derbyshire.
