Sri Lanka international Shehan Madushanka has been arrested and subsequently suspended from all forms of cricket for alleged heroin possession.

ESPNcricinfo report that Sri Lanka Police have confirmed that that Madushanka was arrested on Saturday evening, allegedly in possession of two grams of heroin.

Madushanka, 25, memorably claimed a hat-trick on his ODI debut in a tri-series final against Bangladesh in 2018, dismissing Mashrafe Mortaza, Rubel Hossain and Mahmudullah in consecutive balls to seal his side’s victory. That outing remains his only appearance in the format. Madushanka has played two T20Is, also in 2018, against the same opponents.

Madushanka will remain suspended from the game until a full inquiry from Sri Lanka Cricket looks into the incident.
