Sreesanth has said that Gautam Gambhir continuously called him “fixer” during their war of words during the Eliminator of the 2023 Legends League Cricket in Surat on Wednesday (December 7).
Sreesanth was banned for life by a BCCI disciplinary committee after his alleged involvement in the 2013 IPL spot-fixing saga. He was acquitted of criminal charges two years later, with his ban later reduced to seven years. The fast bowler is currently involved in the LLC, where he is representing the Gujarat Giants.
Against India Capitals in the Eliminator, Sreesanth was hit for a six and a four by Gautam Gambhir, following which he allegedly stared at Gambhir while walking back to his bowling mark. After the powerplay, the two were involved in a heated exchange that even got the umpires involved.
In an Instagram post, Sreesanth has now claimed that Gambhir kept calling him a “fixer”. He also accused Gambhir of abusing him.

“I have not used a single bad word or used a single abusive word to him. I only kept saying, “What are you saying? What are you saying?” In fact, I kept laughing in a sarcastic way because he kept calling me “Fixer, fixer, F*** off fixer”. This is the language that was used.”
Earlier, on Wednesday, Sreesanth had uploaded another video on his social media account, recounting the exchange: “Just wanted to clear the air with what happened with Mr fighter. One who always fights with all his colleagues. For no reason whatsoever. He does not even respect his senior players, including Viru bhai. That’s exactly what happened today. Without any provocation, he just kept on calling me something which was very rude which shouldn’t have been said by Mr Gautam Gambhir.
“I am not at all at fault here. I just wanted to clear the air straightaway. What Mr Gauti has done, sooner or later all of you will get to know. The words which he used and the things he said on a cricket field, live, is not acceptable. My family, my state, everybody has gone through so much. I fought that battle with all your support. Now people want to down me for no reason. He said things he shouldn’t have said. I will surely let you know what he said.”
Following the first video, Gambhir posted a tweet with an image of him smiling and with the caption, “Smile when the world is all about attention!”
