Following another magnificent string of performances in India’s 3-0 demolition of New Zealand in ODIs, Smriti Mandhana has moved above Australia’s pair of Ellyse Perry (No.2) and Meg Lanning (No.3) to become the highest ranked batter in the format.
Mandhana notched her fourth ODI-career century in the series, while also scoring a 90, adding to a headline-grabbing 2018 calendar year which saw her score eight half-centuries and two tons in just 15 outings.
India’s defeat of New Zealand did not prove fruitless for a couple of the White Ferns, as skipper Amy Satterthwaite rose 10 places to claim her spot at fourth in the batting rankings. She has four 50s in her last ten innings, two of those coming in the most recent series against India. Veteran Suzie Bates climbed one place up to sixth with her half-century at Hamilton.

In terms of bowlers, India’s spinners also had a field-day in terms of their ranking positions after exhibiting some excellent displays against New Zealand, Poonam Yadav moving to eighth on the list and Deepti Sharma to ninth. Jhulan Goswami rose to fourth, making her India’s highest ranked bowler in the ODI format. Pakistan’s Sana Mir, Australia’s Megan Schutt and South Africa’s Marizanne Kapp are above her.
