This bilateral series is the first time the teams will face off since December last year, when they were in action during the U19 Asia Cup in Dubai. That last game was won by Sri Lanka, by seven runs. No.4 batter Vimath Dinsara scored a century in that victory, and has been named captain of the squad for this series.

Both squads were announced earlier this month, but Sri Lanka were forced into a change on the eve of the first ODI as all-rounder Viran Chamuditha was ruled out of all six matches with an injury. Senuja Wekonagada has replaced him.
