It will be the final Test series of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship before the final between India and New Zealand in June. The first Test begins on April 21, to be held at the Pallekele international stadium, followed by the second game from April 29.
For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan will be a big miss; the all-rounder is currently plying his trade in IPL 2021 for Kolkata Knight Riders. The visiting side played a two-day intra-squad warm-up game on April 17-18.
Bangladesh are yet to win a Test series against nations other than Zimbabwe and West Indies, having lost their last two-Test series to Pakistan and West Indies. The last time Bangladesh visited Sri Lanka, in 2016/17, the two-Test series ended in a draw, while Sri Lanka won 1-0 when they visited Bangladesh for a tw0-match series the following year.
