India quick Mohammed Shami has heaped praise on his Test teammate Cheteshwar Pujara, conceding that the batsman played him the best in the nets, and that he gave bowlers a good idea of what channels to bowl in.
Known for his watertight technique, and the ability to spend hours at the crease with unwavering focus, Pujara has been a rock at No.3 for India in Tests, and has so far racked up 5840 runs in his 77 Tests at 49.
For Shami, considered one of India’s top swing exponents, bowling to Pujara in the nets gives him an idea of how much he is digressing from the off-stump line.
"Shami’s career was gasping for breath, when in June 2018, he failed the mandatory Yo-Yo fitness test, leading to his exit from the Test side. With a younger batch slowly crawling up from the fringes, Shami had to undergo a complete overhaul."https://t.co/z35rYPSbEt

“Cheteshwar Pujara plays me the best during net sessions,” said Shami, during an Instagram live session with Bengal teammate Manoj Tiwary. “He is a very dedicated player, and he hates getting dismissed during net sessions.

“Whenever he is batting. the bowler gets the idea about how much you are drifting away from the off stump.”
Shami had a stellar 2019 for India, finishing as the leading wicket-taker in both Tests and ODIs for the country.
