A List A encounter between hosts Oman and Scotland ended in quick time after Oman were bundled out for 24 in 17.1 overs – the fourth-lowest List A total in history.
Khawar Ali scored 15 of those 24 runs in Al Amerat on Tuesday, February 19, with the rest of the line-up all falling for single-digit scores – five players, in fact, were dismissed for nought.
Ruaidhri Smith and Adrian Neill, the Scotland pacemen, both returned 4-7, and Alasdair Evans took 2-10.
The Oman line-up featured four List A debutants, Moonamchery Michal, Khurram Nawaz, Sandeep Goud and Twinkal Bhandari, but each fell for nought, apart from Nawaz who scored a five-ball 1.

With just 25 needed to win, Scotland wrapped up the win in a mere 3.2 overs with Michael Cross (10*) and Kyle Coetzer (16*) seeing Oman off with 280 balls remaining.
“[Normally] there’s a partnership somewhere in the game, but we kept picking up wickets all the way though,” Smith said after play. “I didn’t think it was a bad wicket, we just bowled really well and took our chances when it came.”
Oman’s total was the fourth-lowest in List A history. A West Indies U19 team was bundled out for 18 by Barbados in 2007, and that remains the lowest ever.
Today Scotland defeated Oman by 10 wkts with 280 balls to spare at the Al Amerat Cricket Ground in Oman in a 50 over game.
Oman 24/10 in 17.1 overs
Scotland 26/0 in 3.2 overs
Had it been an official ODI game, this would have been the biggest margin of victory by balls remaining!— Mohandas Menon (@mohanstatsman) February 19, 2019
Sri Lanka-based Saracens Sports Club were knocked over for 19 by Colts Cricket Club in 2012-13 – the Colts won by 286 balls to spare, still the highest victory margin by balls remaining in List A cricket – and Middlesex’s capitulation for 23 against Yorkshire in 1974 is third on the list.
The two remaining matches of the three-match series will be played on February 20 and 22.
