Middlesex head coach Richard Scott has left the club after a disappointing start to the 2018 season.
The club’s bowling coach Richard Johnson, the former England fast bowler, will take charge of the Championship side until the end of the season, while Daniel Vettori takes charge of the T20 side – as he did last year and had always been planned.
Middlesex director of cricket Angus Fraser said: “On behalf of Middlesex CCC I would like to thank Richard for all that he has given the club as head coach during the past 10 years; he has been a loyal, hard-working, committed and high-quality coach,” said Angus Fraser, the director of cricket.
“As with every coach in professional sport we have shared highs and lows but to play a leading role in a side winning the County Championship is a triumph very few coaches can claim. Under his guidance more than a dozen cricketers have gone on to gain international recognition.”

Scott, who took over in 2009, was coach as Middlesex won their first title in 23 years in 2016 but the club suffered relegation the following season and currently lie fifth in Division Two, with two wins out of seven at the halfway stage of the campaign. They did not qualify for the knockout stages of the Royal London One-Day Cup.
Middlesex say the search for a head coach begins immediately.
