Musheer Khan, the younger brother of India international Sarfaraz, will miss the upcoming Irani Cup 2024 match between Rest of India and Mumbai in Lucknow after being involved in a road accident.
Mumbai Cricket Association have released a statement stating Musheer Khan is currently admitted to a hospital in Lucknow after suffering a "fracture in the neck region" following a road accident, confirming various reports from earlier in the day.
According to a Times of India report, Musheer was involved in a road accident, resulting in a fracture. When the mishap happened, he was on his way to Lucknow with his father and coach, Naushad Khan. The injury means the 19-year-old will miss out on the Irani Cup fixture and the first few matches of the upcoming Ranji Trophy.
"He didn’t travel with the Mumbai team to Lucknow for the Irani Cup. He was probably travelling from Azamgarh with his father to Lucknow when the accident happened," a source revealed to TOI.
Another report from Sports Tak claimed Musheer suffered a serious neck injury, as later confirmed by MCA, ruling him out for at least six weeks to three months.
"So far, the cause of the accident is not clear. The car flipped on the road four to five times which resulted in Musheer's serious injury," a source told Sports Tak.

A flying start to first-class career
Musheer, who had a stellar Under-19 World Cup for India, converted his maiden first-class century into a double hundred while playing for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy 2024 quarterfinal. In the summit clash against Vidarbha, he became the youngest Mumbai batter to score a hundred in a Ranji Trophy final. He surpassed Sachin Tendulkar, who scored twin hundreds in the 1994/95 season final against Punjab to lead Mumbai to a title win.
Musheer’s latest noteworthy innings was an 181 in the Duleep Trophy fixture for Abhimanyu Easwaran-led India B against India A in Bengaluru. He was reportedly in line to be picked for the India A in their three four-day matches against Australia. However, his untimely injury is a massive blow to that prospect.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) is yet to release an official statement regarding Musheer’s injury.
