Afghanistan captain Rashid Khan is a doubtful starter for his side’s T20I tri-series final against Bangladesh, after picking up a hamstring injury.
Rashid injured his left hamstring while fielding during his side’s game against Bangladesh, which ended in a four-wicket loss for his team. While the result did not have any impact on the tournament’s two finalists, Rashid’s fitness will be closely monitored by the management in the lead-up to the final at Dhaka.
The 21-year-old limped off the ground after pulling up, before returning later to claim two wickets, but could not prevent Afghanistan’s second consecutive defeat, following a record 12-match winning streak.

After the game, Rashid conceded that he decided to return to the field to assess the injury and see how his hamstring is holding up.
“I got some trouble with the hamstring. Hopefully, it’ll be fine in a couple of days but looks a bit sticky. Wanted to go and bowl and see how it feels. Looks 50-60% fine. That was the plan in coming back to the field.

Team manager Nazim Jar Abdur Rahim Zai remained non-committal over Rashid’s availability for the final on September 24, adding that management will assess Rashid’s injury over the next two days.
“I cannot say that he will be available [for the final],” Zai told reporters. “He is doing well and let’s see what’s happening. We will have two or three days for recovery. I hope it’s not that serious because he is our captain and main player and we will monitor him tomorrow and the day after.”
