The 2022 Ranji Trophy final will be held from June 22 to June 26 in Bengaluru — here’s where you can watch the clash between Madhya Pradesh and Mumbai, along with the live streaming and TV details.
The Ranji Trophy was cancelled last year due to the second Covid-19 wave in India. The 2021/22 season began this year in February, with the league stages being held before IPL 2022. The rest of the tournament resumed once the T20 tournament ended, from June 6, with the quarterfinal, semifinal and final being staged.
Bengal, Jharkhand, Mumbai, Uttarakhand, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Madhya Pradesh made the top eight, from where Madhya Pradesh, Bengal, Mumbai and Uttar Pradesh qualified for the semifinal.
Madhya Pradesh took on Bengal, who had won a record-breaking match earlier, in the semis, posting 341 on the board in the first innings. Despite the best efforts of Bengal’s Manoj Tiwary and Royal Challengers Bangalore star Shahbaz Ahmed, who hit centuries, Bengal fell well short of the first innings score, and needed an outright win to make the top two. They eventually went on to lose by 174 runs, as Madhya Pradesh advanced to the final.
In the second semi-final, Mumbai, who won their quarter-final by 725 runs, faced Uttar Pradesh, who were all out for 180 in their first innings after Mumbai posted 393-10 on the board. The Prithvi Shaw-led Mumbai team went on to post 533-4 on the board in their second innings and advanced to the final despite the match ending in a draw courtesy of a first innings lead.
The final will be held at the Chinnaswamy Stadium from 9.30am IST.
