Ranji Trophy 2024 to be split into two phases
The 2024-25 Ranji trophy will be held in two phases to minimise weather disruptions in Northern India during winter. Last year, the tournament was held between January and March, after the Vijay Hazare Trophy and the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
This season, the competition will begin with teams playing five league matches during a five-week window before the start of the domestic white-ball tournaments.
The last two rounds will be held after the Vijay Hazare Trophy on January 18. The knockout stage will begin on February 8, while the final will be played between February 26 and March 2.
The tournament will feature several big-name players. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Mayank Agarwal are captains of Maharashtra and Karnataka, respectively. Left-arm spinner R Sai Kishore, who was the leading wicket-taker – 53 scalps at an average of 18.53 – last season, will captain Tamil Nadu.
