According to BBC Weather, there is a likelihood of rain at the Ageas Bowl throughout the first day’s play and on the second afternoon, and while Accuweather paints a more promising picture for the first two days, predicting only sporadic showers during the first two days, they also suggest that Friday will witness a shower.

Both suggest there will be rain around the time of the toss and the start of play, meaning the return of international cricket after a four-month absence might well be delayed a little longer.

However, odds of a draw are still long. Bet365 rate the draw at 17/4 currently, and with both side’s batting having been flaky in recent times, even with the Southampton surface likely to be slow and low, the two team’s prime pace attacks should have enough time to reach a conclusion between them.
