Rahul Dravid put on a 17-run stand with his younger son during a third-division club game organised by the Karnataka State Cricket Association on Saturday (February 22).

Dravid, who last played a professional game in July 2014 and has also served as a World Cup-winning coach with the Indian team since, took part in the 2024-25 Sri Nassur Memorial Shield For Group I-III Division tournament.

Playing for Vijaya Cricket Club against Young Lions Club at the SLS Kreedangana ground in the 50-over competition, Dravid walked out at No.6 in the first innings. His son Anvay was batting at the other end, making it a rare instance of a father-son duo playing a cricket game together.

Dravid Senior could only make 10 in eight balls before AR Ullas dismissed him, his innings also containing a four. The partnership lasted 15 balls for 17 runs. Anvay, however, left a mark, scoring 58 in 60 deliveries with eight boundaries, while his teammate Swapnil Yelave brought up a hundred, eventually falling for 107 in 50.

Vijaya Cricket Club made 345-7 in their 50 overs.

This is not the first time that Dravid has played a club game after retiring - back in 2013, he represented his childhood club, the Bangalore United Cricket Club, a couple of months after calling it quits from international cricket. He scored a hundred in that game, helping his team avoid relegation.

Dravid also has an elder son Samit, who was picked for the India Under-19 squad last August. He also played in the Maharaja T20 Trophy last season, making 82 runs in seven games.
