The inaugural edition of the Pondicherry Premier League will start from August 5: here's everything you need to know about the T20 tournament.

Following the footsteps of various state boards in India, the Cricket Association of Pondicherry is set to host its first-ever region-based T20 competition named Pondicherry Premier League.

The six teams gunning for the trophy are Yanam Royals, Villanur Mohit Kings, Ossudu Accord Warriors, Mahe Megalo Strikers, Karaikal Knights, Karaikal Knights and White Town Drop Thought Giants.

All these sides will face each other twice in a round-robin format across 30 matches. Like the IPL, the top two sides will have two chances to reach the finals after the league stage.

While the winner of Qualifier 1 on August 21 will seal a berth for the title decider, the loser will get another shot in Qualifier 2 on August 22 against the winner of the Eliminator, to be played between the third and fourth-ranked sides.
