West Indies head coach Phil Simmons, speaking in the post-match press conference after the second England-West Indies Test, drew blanks when recalling Dom Sibley‘s name, referring to him as ‘what’s his name’.
Sibley scored the second hundred of his Test career in the encounter at Emirates Old Trafford, and was instrumental in taking England to a first-innings total of 469, his 120 coming in a crucial 260-run stand for the fourth wicket with Ben Stokes.

Simmons was explaining what his side could do differently in the third Test to win the series when he completely forgot Sibley’s name.
“Well, I think we have to do something differently, we just lost a Test match,” Simmons said. “We need to add some of the things we did in the first Test match, and subtract some of the things we did in this Test match. And I think it’s critical that our batsmen carry on and make big hundreds. Stokes 176 and … ‘whatshisname’ 120-odd.
“Our batsmen need to make hundreds because our bowlers have been doing their job. And now the batsmen need to stand up and do what they have to for West Indies cricket.”

The West Indies head coach also pointed out where his side “lost their way” in the Test.
“I think in five days, we still played some good cricket,” he said. “For me, we lost control of the game in five-six overs with the new ball yesterday evening [day four]. We were in a good position to bat through the day and then bat some of today and close off the game but that spell from Broad is where I think we lost the game. We lost our way there and couldn’t hold it back.”
