Pakistan Women’s under-19 T20 tournament is set to get underway from October 14 at LCCA ground in Lahore. Four mentors who were involved in the Champions One-Day Cup will work in the U19 tournament.

Teams to participate in the competition are Stars, Strikers, Challengers, Conquerors and Invincibles. It will be a double-league format; each team will face every other team twice, and the top two sides will qualify for the final, which will be held on November 3.

Legendary former Pakistan fast bowler Waqar Younis will be the mentor for Challengers, while former Pakistan captain Misbah-ul-Haq will work with Conquerors. Stars will have the services of Shoaib Malik, and Strikers will receive the guidance of Saqlain Mushtaq. Invincibles will be without a mentor as Sarfaraz Ahmed is out due to national duty with the Pakistan men’s team.

75 players will partake in the tournament for a prize pot of PKR 1.1 million. The winning team will claim PKR 0.5 million and the runners-up will bag PKR 0.3 million. Two matches will take place in a day, with the first game to kick-off at 9:00 AM while the second is scheduled for 1:00 PM.

The squads for five teams were selected by the national women’s selection committee, which includes former Pakistan batter Asad Shafiq and former wicketkeeper Batool Fatima. Players were picked after open trials that were held across the nation during August and September. Players born before September 1, 2005, are not eligible to play in the tournament.
