Mohammad Haris, part of Pakistan’s 2022 T20 World Cup runners-up campaign, will lead a 15-member Pakistan Shaheens squad in the 2024 ACC Men’s Emerging Asia Cup

Pakistan Shaheens have named their squad for the T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup with Mohammad Haris as their captain.

Haris, who has represented Pakistan in nine T20Is and six ODIs, will lead a 15-member Pakistan Shaheens squad for the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup, set to be held in Oman from October 18. Among prominent names, fast bowlers Shahnawaz Dahani, Zaman Khan, and batter Haider Ali feature in the team.

Before the Shaheens fly to Oman on October 16, the squad will take part in a preparatory camp between October 11 and 15.

Among new faces, Zaman, Ahmed Daniyal and Abdul Samad will play for the Shaheens for the first time. Zaman, who has played 10 T20Is and an ODI, represented the Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup, while Samad played for Markhors and Daniyal for Nurpur Lions, scalping 10 wickets.

Pakistan Shaheens are the defending champions

Shaheens enter the tournament as the defending champions after they defeated India A in the 2023 final, thanks to a 71-ball 108 from Tayyab Tahir. Both are slotted in Group B alongside hosts Oman and UAE. Group A consists of Afghanistan A, Bangladesh A, Hong Kong and Sri Lanka A.

Bangladesh A will play the curtain-raiser against Hong Kong on October 18. The top two sides from each group will qualify for the semi-finals, with the final scheduled on October 27.
